Job Title:  Data/Business Analyst

Position Description: 

The Data/Business Analyst (DA) will serve as the principal resource administering the Jefferson Health Plan (JHP) data warehouse, including tasks such as: data feed continuity, quality assurance, report generation, vendor coordination/management, etc. DA monitors the quality of JHP Data Warehouse data imports and corresponding data used to drive JHP administrative and plan management functions. DA assures adherence to data standards and content to ensure information is useable and actionable. DA also assists in the ongoing assessment, development, and oversight of quality management processes and procedures. Specifically, DA validates financial coding, healthcare claims and clinical value coding, and value integrity prior to release of data to the JHP Data Warehouse and collaborates with database and data warehouse administrators to implement effective quality processes prior to release of data. DA manages eligibility feeds from various TPAs and fee schedules for billings to the members of the JHP. DA monitors changes in coding standards as they apply to data warehouse management.

Location: 

Main Office in Steubenville, Ohio (suburb of Pittsburgh, PA). Remote worksite is negotiable for highly qualified candidates.

General Requirements:

1.       B.A. or above in Business Administration, HIM, Health Information Technology, or related healthcare field, preferred. Current AHIMA clinical coding certification desired.

2.       Minimum 3 years’ industry experience in Data and Information Management within a data warehouse.

3.       Minimum 3 years’ data quality assurance experience with SQL advanced querying and diagnostic skills, preferred.

4.       Must have experience sourcing applicable data controls, both internal and external, to measure and monitor data performance and quality.

5.       Must have healthcare background related to coding including minimum 3 years’ working knowledge of healthcare data, claim files, CMS, AMA, FDA and AHFS file formats and table structures to maintain and quality manage CPT, HCPCS, ICD, and DRG for data value integrity.

6.       Must have extensive experience examining complex data for quality control.

7.       Must have advanced knowledge of healthcare provider and healthcare insurance data systems.

8.       Must have the ability to comfortably interact with individuals/groups at various organizational levels to include strong collaboration and communication skills across all mediums.

9.       Must have the ability to work independently, or within a team environment, with minimal supervision. This includes the ability to effectively establish priorities and meet deadlines when receiving work from more than one person.

10.   Must have ability to work with, train and coach other team members and build positive relationships.

11.   Must demonstrate the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback to/from team members to support continuous improvement.

12.   Ability to travel, as needed (primarily day trips during business hours).

Specific Skills/Experience:

1.       Must have ability to source external control documentation.

2.       Must have ability to evaluate large datasets for quality and accuracy and to develop and maintain queries and processes to audit, remediate and assure data quality prior to data release.

3.       Must have ability to analyze, query and manipulate data according to defined business rules and procedures.

4.       Must have ability to document routine control performance.

5.       Must demonstrate critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

Software Experience – Advanced Competency Level:

  1. MS Office/O365 including Outlook, Excel (including Pivot Tables), PowerPoint, and Word.
  2. SQL, view development & stored procedures, preferred.
